The Independent Producers Initiative Inc : Representing Australian feature film producers
IPI's members and supporters include many of the most experienced and successful feature film producers currently working all around Australia, as well as some of the country's most promising new producers.
Members have at least one feature film credit, and associate members have a demonstrated commitment, with film production credits.
The objects of the Independent Producers Initiative Inc are:
- to increase the size and profitability of the Australian feature film production sector; and
- to promote the interests of Australian feature film producers.
IPI first came into being back in 1999 as an ad hoc feature producers’ ‘ginger group’. Our action at that time resulted in a number of changes to FFC policy, with important benefits for producers' sustainability.
Since that time there have been many other issues where producers under the IPI banner have joined together to assert the independent feature producers’ position.
Notably, in 2004 joining with SPAA in re-negotiating the MEAA Feature Film Agreement; and a joint submission with ASDA in 2005 on the review of the 10BA tax incentive.
IPI is now an incorporated association - representing and promoting the work of the Australian independent feature film producer. We are committed to working with the rest of the participants in the Australian screen industry, and to finding creative solutions to ensure its future and its growth.
